Collaboration Cafe: Imagine a Winslow Shuttle
Monday, March 17, 2025
Join City Council hosts, Mayor Ashley Mathews, and Councilmembers Leslie Schneider and Kirsten Hytopoulos, in a facilitated community conversation to imagine and explore a transit option to get residents and visitors around our downtown and beyond. Attendees will be identifying the opportunities and challenges of a Winslow shuttle, as anticipated in the city’s Sustainable Transportation Plan.
When: Mon., March 17, 6 – 8 p.m.
Where: Stan Pocock Rowing Center (281 Brien Drive SE, Bainbridge Island)
What: Identifying the opportunities and challenges surrounding a Winslow shuttle. A local non-profit organization was recently engaged by the city to create a preliminary plan for such a service. While this Collaboration Cafe is not part of that official scope of work, the results of this community exercise will be shared with the consulting team.
RSVP: Encouraged but not required, email: CollaborationCafe@bainbridgewa.gov
This event is open to all. Light refreshments will be provided.
Background: Over the last seven months, your hosts Mayor Ashley Mathews and Council Members Leslie Schneider and Kirsten Hytopoulos participated in the inaugural cohort of the Washington Collaborative Elected Leaders Institute (WA-CELI), a partnership of the Association of Washington Cities, William D. Ruckelshaus Center, and the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance.* The Institute seeks to promote the movement from hierarchical to collaborative leadership by introducing elected officials to collaborative tools aimed at embracing differing viewpoints and building consensus. The hosting council members are hopeful that this type of collaboration between city leaders and the community can become a regular part of city planning and decision-making.
