DETROIT — Blame the wings.
Cody Bellinger was out of the Yankees lineup Tuesday because of what the team believes is a case of food poisoning after he was throwing up all night.
The culprit seems to be a batch of bad chicken wings that he ate Monday night, according to manager Aaron Boone.
The rest of the team was apparently unscathed, Boone said before the day game against the Tigers at Comerica Park.
“Hopefully [he’s] feeling a little bit better now and we’ll see if we can get him going, make him somehow available as the game goes,” Boone said.

It was the latest development in a rough week for Bellinger, who missed games on Friday and Saturday in Pittsburgh with a tight back, which could not have been helped by his overnight heaving.
With Bellinger out, Trent Grisham got a sixth straight start in center field, though he was likely to be in the lineup anyway against Tigers lefty Tarik Skubal.
The main beneficiary may be Ben Rice, who got the start at DH in a tough left-on-left matchup.
