PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A man and a woman were medevaced from a cruise ship near Plaquemines Parish on Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20.
On Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard reported that watchstanders received an alert about a 66-year-old man experiencing stroke-like symptoms on the Carnival Liberty cruise ship near Southwest Pass.
On Sunday, Coast Guard officials said they received another notification from the same cruise ship about a 30-year-old woman reporting appendicitis-like symptoms near Port Sulphur.
Aircrews were dispatched to both areas, and each person was transported to a New Orleans hospital for treatment.
According to the Coast Guard, the man and the woman were last reported to be in stable condition.
