Belfast firefighters battled a chimney fire that turned into a house fire Sunday morning.
The fire was initially reported at 7:30 a.m. and by the time firefighters arrived, they were met with thick smoke and heavy fire inside the home.
The occupants were able to get out of the home with just the clothes on their backs, according to a social media post by the Belfast fire department.
The building and contents were deemed a total loss due to the extent of damage from the fire, heat and smoke.
Belfast, Morrill and Northport fire departments helped extinguish the fire.
Additional details about the fire were not immediately available.
