One month after closing Osaka Ramen, restaurateur Jeff Osaka announced Friday he is also shuttering his last-standing restaurant in the city, Sushi-Rama.
The conveyor-belt sushi spot, at 2615 Larimer St., opened in late 2015, a block away from Osaka Ramen in the River North Art District. Its last day of business is April 12, according to a statement shared by Osaka’s communications representative.
“We took a risk with a fresh approach to sushi — inviting diners to experience Japanese cuisine through a playful, accessible lens,” Osaka said in the statement. “To the community that gathered around our conveyor belt, shared countless meals, and embraced our vision: thank you. To the staff made that vision come to life: we couldn’t have done it without you.”
The restaurateur is not retiring, however, and instead is looking for his next role in the food industry, according to the statement.
At one point in 2022, five Sushi-Rama locations were open in metro Denver and at Denver International Airport. Last year, Osaka closed all but the original location of the restaurant, citing growing costs for labor and food that made his enterprise unsustainable.
In February, Osaka closed Osaka Ramen, which like Sushi-Rama opened ten years ago at a burgeoning time for RiNo.
