BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Signing season is officially underway, and Friday morning, Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcat LaReesha Cawthorn joined in on the fun, inking her plans to continue her basketball career at Tennessee Tech as Golden Eagle.
Cawthorn was one of the top players in the fourth region last season, averaging roughly 17 points per game and 10 rebounds per game, which led to many honors, including being named the fourth region player of the year by the 4th Region Basketball Coaches Association, and being named to the KHSAA all-state third team.
The Lady Wildcats went 30-2 on the year, with Cawthorn as a staple in that frontcourt, and in her senior season, the team will look to repeat that success and take the fourth region title for the first time since 2009.
“It’s been really a great day,” Cawthorn said. “It was relieving being able to know that I’m going to a school that I’m able to play dream ball. I’m gonna be able to play the sport that I love, and it’s just very exciting knowing that I’m going to be able to continue my basketball career after I graduate.”
