ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A car hauler caught fire on Saturday afternoon, causing a temporary lane closure and multiple grass fires.
According to a 12:47 p.m. Facebook post from the St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District No. 11, its units, along with Picayune Fire, were working to handle the blaze, located around mile marker 11 on Interstate 59.
Later, the district was reportedly handling several grass fires along I-59 northbound between mile markers 5 and 11. The Fire Protection District did not specify whether these fires were related.
As of 2:46 p.m., a final Facebook post stated that all of the fires were under control, and additional help was provided by the St. Tammany fire Protection District #1. No injuries were reported.
