MARDI GRAS. THIS IS THE KANSAS CITY MARCHING FALCONS PERFORMING FOR CUSTOMERS AT IHOP IN HARVEY. IT’S THEIR WAY OF SAYING THANK YOU TO THE BUSINESS AND THE COMMUNITY FOR MAKING THIS TRIP POSSIBLE. YOU SEE, IT ALMOST DIDN’T HAPPEN ON CHRISTMAS DAY. $30,000 WORTH OF EQUIPMENT GOT WATER DAMAGE AFTER A PIPE BURST DURING A WINTER STORM. BASICALLY, THE WHOLE CEILING CAME DOWN ON ALL THE DRONE DRUMS FLOATING IN. EVERYTHING WAS DAMAGED. TROPHIES, JUMPS. MELTING THEIR DREAMS OF COMING TO NEW ORLEANS. THAT’S WHEN THE COMMUNITY STEPPED UP. A GOFUNDME ACCOUNT WAS SET UP. AN IHOP IN KANSAS CITY AND NEW ORLEANS DONATED 20% OF THEIR PROCEEDS. I LOVE THAT WE CAN HELP IN ANY WAY WE POSSIBLY CAN. SO COME ENJOY. I FEEL COMFORTABLE, FEEL LOVE, FEEL WELCOME. NOW, WITH THEIR EQUIPMENT RESTORED, THE KIDS TRAVEL TO NEW ORLEANS, GETTING READY TO IMPRESS THE CROWD IN THE CITY. WE LOVE NEW ORLEANS AND WE LOVE THE SUPPORT THAT THEY GIVE US. AND WE LOVE TO BRING THE ENERGY AND JUST TO SEE COME DOWN HERE EVERY YEAR. IT IS ONE TRIP THAT OUR TEAM ACTUALLY LOOKS FORWARD TO.
Businesses step up to fulfill marching band’s dream of coming to Mardi Gras
The Kansas City Marching Falcons, a non profit drill team, performed for customers of IHOP Friday night. It’s their way of saying thank you to the business and the community for making this trip possible. It almost didn’t happen. On Christmas day, their equipment got water damage after a pipe burst during a winter storm, melting their dreams of coming to New Orleans. That’s when the community stepped up. A go fund me account was set up and IHOP in Kansas City and New Orleans donated 20 percent of their proceeds so the students can buy new instruments. With their equipment restored, the band and drill team traveled to New Orleans and will march in Tucks on Saturday and Okeaonos on Sunday. “We love New Orleans and we love the support they gave us, we love the energy,” said Dantwone Hanks. “I love that we can help any way we possibly can, so come enjoy and feel comfortable, feel loved feel welcomed,” said Claritha Munson, General Manger of IHOP in Harvey.
