MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A Buckhorn Middle School teacher has been released from jail after getting arrested on a child abuse charge according to jail records.
According to jail records, Karen Yvette Howard, 60, was charged with torture/willful abuse of a child, non-family, and was booked into the Madison County Jail on Nov. 23 at 10:49 a.m. with a $5,000 bond.

Jail records show Howard was released later in the day at 12:28 p.m.
A Madison County School System spokesperson confirmed that Howard is currently on administrative leave while the school district investigates allegations brought against her.
MCSS said it will not be able to provide further details at this time.
