NEW YORK (WPIX) — Some Bank of America users say they’re having problems accessing their funds online Wednesday.
Downdetector, a site that tracks outages across platforms and services, saw a spike of more than 18,000 user-reported outages with Bank of America’s online banking Wednesday afternoon. As of 3:30 p.m. ET, those reports had dwindled to less than 5,000.
A message, seen below, on the Bank of America app now states, “Accounts Temporarily Unavailable. Some accounts and/or balances are temporarily unavailable.”
Bank of America’s help account on X responded to customers who had tweeted about the app being down, urging people to send a DM with additional details and personal information.
In a statement to Nexstar’s KRON, a Bank of America spokesperson said, “Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today. These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
Customers took to social media platforms like X and Reddit to ask what was happening with their funds. One Reddit user warned others to “screenshot your latest transactions in case the bank tries to short you.”
In January 2023, Bank of America customers complained about money missing from deposits and Zelle transactions. Many said they called the bank’s customer service and had no luck getting information.
