Indian team has reached Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The team is indulged in the practice sessions at the WACA Stadium before the first Test scheduled to be played at Optus Stadium from November 22. Star India batter, KL Rahul reached Australia week before the majority of the team arrived. He played a four-day game for India A against Australia A.
After the whitewash at the hands of New Zealand, Indian batters are under intense scrutiny for not coming up with runs. Rahul, who was rested for the last two Tests against Kiwis will hope for a spot in the playing XI against Australia. During his net practice session, the right-handed batter dealt a blow on his elbow. He looked at unease and despite his will continue, had to abort the session and walked away with the physio.

For us, it’s two good teams playing each other: Gambhir
It is worth noting that, Indian need to win the five match Test series by 4-0 to cement their place in the World Test Championship 2025 final. Their 3-0 loss to the Kiwis has damaged their WTC prospects. Moreover, India enter the Aussies den with the momentum of having won last two Test series down under. Ahead of the series, India Head Coach, Gautam Gambhir stressed looking at the series as any other keeping the pressure of qualifying for WTC final at bay.

“We are not looking at what’s going to happen in the World Test Championship, whether we are going to qualify [for the final]. Every series is important, as simple as that, when you are playing for your country. For us, it’s two good teams playing each other and we are absolutely keen to go out there and perform and try and win the series.”
