NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department has announced that arrests have been made in two homicide investigations.
NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick held a news conference on Friday, Dec. 6, along with Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto, District Attorney Jason Williams and other law enforcement officials for the announcement.
The first arrest was made in the Nov. 17 shooting at a second-line event that left 11 people wounded and two others, dead in the St. Roch neighborhood.
The shooting happened in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue where 10 people suffered gunshot wounds. Three others were shot at the corner of Almonaster and Florida avenues.
Two victims, 21-year-old Rasean Carter and 19-year-old Malachi Jackson were killed.
Through the investigation, NOPD detectives said they executed three search warrants on a Jefferson Parish home leading to the arrest of 19-year-old Curtis Gray.
He was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive but will be extradited to Orleans Parish where he will be booked on two counts of second-degree murder.
NOPD detectives also announced the arrests of Cornelius Tillman and Darius Farley in the case of a double homicide in the 6700 block of Tara Lane.
Two men, 18-year-old Wayne Eric Orsin and 31-year-old Rashada Richardson, were both killed in the shooting.
Tillman and Farley were arrested on Thursday, Dec. 6 and have been booked on two counts of second-degree murder.
NOPD officials said the investigations into the crime remain ongoing.
