A still-grieving mom whose daughter was allegedly raped and murdered by an illegal immigrant ripped the judges who put the brakes on President Trump’s deportation flights — and their Democrat enablers who’d rather “harbor” criminals than protect victims.
Patty Morin’s daughter, Rachel, a 37-year-old mother-of-five, was found dumped in a drain near a scenic trail in Maryland 18 months ago and an illegal immigrant from El Salvador has been charged with her murder. His trial is due to start with jury selection Tuesday.
Morin, 64, insisted this week to The Post the deportations must continue — and said she’s solidly in Trump’s corner as he takes the fight to the courts trying to ground the flights.
“It’s good, because I really believe that the judges are overstepping their boundaries,” she said. “I think that the liberal media is playing that up again, hoping the American citizens don’t know or understand our laws.”
Trump took the extraordinary step of invoking the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to deport members of Tren de Aragua, the notorious Venezuelan prison gang wreaking havoc in the US.
But Judge James Boasberg, a federal district judge in Washington, D.C., issued a temporary restraining order earlier this month blocking further deportations under the act through Saturday and is weighing legal filings asking him extend it another two weeks through April 12.
A DC District Court of Appeals on Wednesday upheld the temporary injunction, but the Trump administration Friday asked the Supreme Court to overturn Boasberg’s ruling.
House Republicans are planning hearings on Boasberg next week amid a bitter public feud, including Trump calling for his impeachment, and a rare rebuke from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who said it was “not an appropriate response.”
Morin said it’s former President Biden — and his administration’s open border policy — that needed to be called out.
“They put every American citizen in harm’s way, every American citizen, and especially the most vulnerable, which are women and children,” she said.
She was dismayed by the current chorus of Democrats intent on stopping the deportation flights.
“I think this is just a weak attempt by Democrats and liberals to just stir up chaos and fear — which is the only thing they really know how to do,” she said.
“It really saddens me that all these politicians choose to harbor people that have committed federal crime.”
She continued: “I don’t understand. The law should be black and white, either you break the law or you uphold the law. There’s no gray area.”
Rachel Morin was killed in August 2023 as she walked the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air.
Victor Martinez Hernandez, 23, was arrested after a 10-month manhunt and charged with first-degree murder and rape.
Morin appeared with Trump on the campaign trail and in White House videos after he took office, as one of the so-called Angel Moms — a parent of a child lost to the consequences of illegal immigration — who backed his tough stance.
Trump was elected after campaigning on a promise to launch a mass deportation program, returning illegal immigrants to their home countries.
Polls revealed that even his opponents warmed to the idea.
Some 60% of respondents in a Reuters/Ipsos poll earlier this month said they supported increasing deportations of immigrants in the US illegally.
Trump insiders believe his fight with the courts puts his Democratic opponents in a tricky position, forcing them to back his policies or defend keeping foreign criminals in the US.
“On the one hand this is a complex legal question,” said a Trump world source. “On the other hand it is blindingly obvious what the right course of action is — and Americans know that.”
