NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — He’s a legend, and now, he’s retiring.
Khai McFarland is a success in the second grade and a star on the football field as Louisiana’s littlest drum major.
In the video above, WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood gets the scoop on why Khai is giving it all up.
Yep, he’s retiring, and at only seven years old.
What started as a Halloween costume for Khai hit a high note, and now the drum major known as Fly Guy Khai is coming in for a landing.
You see, he wants to play baseball and he’s contemplating a career as possibly as a police officer, or maybe, one day, even working for NASA.
So, he’s hanging up his suit and marching off the field one final time.
Retiring at the old age of seven, but always, the leader of the band.
