HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) has set all counties throughout the state under a Fire Danger Advisory.
According to the Alabama Forestry Commission, the advisory comes as drought conditions have worsened with no significant accumulation of rain in the long-range forecast.
AFC told News 19 that the fire danger advisory is placed for all counties effective immediately.
AFC said that in the past month 246 wildfires have burned nearly 3,000 acres.
A Fire Danger Advisory indicates that fuels conductive to the start and spread of wildfire are more readily available during a drought.
AFC has not issued a burn restriction at this time, however the commission discourages any outdoor burning until conditions improve.
