Happy New Year’s Eve! Our strong level 2 system is here! Heavy rain with flooding is a concern today as creeks, streams and some rivers are exceeding their banks.
The first Flood Warning has been issued for Sonoma County until 10:30 this morning. A half inch to 2.50″ inches of additional rainfall is possible in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Novato, Rohnert Park, Windsor and Healdsburg just to name a few.
A Flood Watch has been issued through tonight as runoff is expected as the soil won’t be able to absorb these heavier rain rates. More flooding is expected all across the Bay today.
A Wind Advisory is in effect through 8 a.m. Southwesterly winds are gusting 20 -30 mph with peak gusts to 50 mph.
Strongest winds will be in the hills and along the coast. These strong winds will accompany the frontal passage. Tree limbs could be brought down with power outages possible.
Rainfall amounts of an inch to an inch and a half is expected for the valleys with 2-4″ in the hills & higher elevations.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 4 a.m. Sunday for the Greater Lake Tahoe area above 7000 feet where 1-3 feet of snow is possible. The snow level will eventually lower throughout the day with the snow level below 6000 feet tonight. This very warm storm will only bring 1-5″ of wet snow into Sunday.
Clear & chilly conditions arrive tonight for fireworks as we get a needed break through New Year’s Day tomorrow.
Lighter rain returns Monday with a break Tuesday and another strong AR headed our war Wednesday and Thursday for more flooding concerns into 2023.
