HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — Two men have been arrested in Hammond following investigations into alleged child sex crimes.
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the arrests come as a result of efforts by their by their Internet Crimes Against Children Tax Force.
The first man, identified as 45-year-old Oran Joseph Thomas, of Lafayette, allegedly drove to Hammond for sex after having sexual conversations with what he believed to be a child over the course of multiple days.
Thomas is registered as a Tier 1 Sex Offender from a child sex crime in 2010, and after being arrested on Dec. 5, is now facing one count each of indecent behavior with a juvenile, computer-aided solicitation of a minor and attempted carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
The other man, identified as 35-year-old Joshua Landry, of Hammond, allegedly also had sexual conversations with what he believed to be a child over the course of several days. He was arrested and booked on one count each of indecent behavior with a juvenile and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
