For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 4, 2024
Montgomery County’s Commission on Aging (COA) will host two free events in December to showcase programs and resources that support older adults in living active, healthy and independent lives. The events will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, in Silver Spring and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, in Bethesda.
These events will provide an opportunity to learn about the County’s programs and services for older adults, including wellness and recreation activities, caregiving resources, meal programs, transportation options and opportunities for learning and employment. Attendees also will be able to engage with the Commission and share their interests and concerns.
“We want to make it easier for older adults to thrive in our community, whether it is finding ways to stay active, connecting with transportation options or learning about programs that support caregivers,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “These events highlight our commitment to ensuring that older residents in Montgomery County have access to the services and resources they need to live healthy, independent lives. I encourage residents to attend, engage with the Commission on Aging and share their feedback, so we can continue to address the needs and interests of our older adult population.”
The events are free, open to the public and require no registration:
The COA advises the County Executive, County Council, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and other County departments on the interests, needs and challenges facing older adults in Montgomery County. The COA identifies key issues where advocacy can make a difference for older adults who want to age in place and remain engaged in their communities.
