Investigators from the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR FMO) remain on scene investigating an early morning barn fire that took place in the Catoctin District.
Just prior to 2:00 a.m., the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call for a reported structure fire in the 43300 block of Spinks Ferry Road. LCFR units from Lucketts, Leesburg, Lovettsville, Lansdowne, and Ashburn, as well as Frederick County, Md., responded to the scene and found an approximate 40-foot by 40-foot pole barn fully involved in fire. Fire was also spreading to the adjacent wooded area, and crews began working to attack the fire from the exterior, as well as containing the fire in the woods. The bulk of the fire was extinguished quickly; however, as of this release, fire and rescue units remain on scene performing salvage and overhaul operations and extinguishing hidden pockets of fire. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The LCFR FMO continues to investigate the cause of this incident and determine damage estimates.
