NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — In a fourth-grade class, it’s a big day.
And a big deal.
And the moment that makes Everett Ducote a nine-year-old philosopher in the field of education.
WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood is listening to what Everett has to say.
“I think it’s a great accomplishment for Hynes and I’m glad for us,” said Everett.
And he has a lot to say about his school, Hynes Lakeview Charter School.
It’s one of three in the Hynes family.
With 1,800 students, Everett is in Angela Goodly’s class.
“This is an A++. This is a testament to our hard work and dedication,” said Goodly.
And now with a big honor called the Cognia Award from the Latin word for knowledge.
Only 60 schools around the world get the distinction.
It’s for learning, leading and supporting.
It’s a really good grade.
Even better than an A-plus.
As CEO and one time fourth-grade teacher Michelle Douglas says, “We’re over the moon to have this label of distinction from Cognia, it is for us like the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval”
She says, “Hynes schools are a happy place where we strive to make each moment of the day even better and better.”
