HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Hawai’i beach volleyball program concluded a weekend of top competition at the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Pairs Championship Sunday at the John Hunt Park.
Alana Embry and Jasmine Wandeler went 1-1 on the final day while advancing to the semifinals of the consolation bracket. The duo started the day with a three-set win over Stetson’s Katie Camp and Maria Ozaeta, pulling out a 21-15, 21-23, 15-12 victory. The duo however lost its next match in straight sets to Madison Morrow and Tess Spaansen of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The duo went 4-2 on the weekend and finished in a tie for 19th in the 64-team field.
UH’s other entry of Sarah Burton and Caprice Lorenzo were slotted in the same consolation bracket as Embry and Wandeler but withdrew from action on Sunday due to illness. Burton and Lorenzo registered a 3-3 mark during the tournament and finished in a tie for 23rd.
The BeachBows will wrap up their fall season next week by hosting Cal Poly and UCLA in the Kauai Invitational, Nov. 22-24, at Kalapaki Beach.
