FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — When the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions men’s basketball team hosts the University of the Ozarks on Nov. 12 — it’s the kids who will win.
The UAFS Toy Toss returns to Gayle Kaundart Arena this week. And this time, all the toys tossed onto the court will go to the Salvation Army, Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club, and the UAFS Lion Pride Pantry.
After the first point of the game, fans will toss stuffed animals and other soft toys onto the court and kids from the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club will help gather them.
United Way of Fort Smith Area will also hold a citywide toy drive in partnership with Arvest Bank, ArcBest, ABB, and BHC Insurance. Collection boxes can be found at Fort Smith locations of those businesses.

“This event brings so much joy to the community and we’re proud to support local charities while creating such a memorable experience,” said Dyllan Newell, Coordinator of Student Activities and Civic Engagement at UAFS. “The Toy Toss has become a beloved tradition for Lions fans, and we’re excited to see it continue to grow.”
Tip-off for the Nov. 12 game is at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free with the donation of a new, soft toy. The Toy Toss started in 2010 at UAFS and has become one of the university’s signature annual events.
