Center Township Democrats gathered Friday night to name Kenneth Allen, a current IPS School Board member, as the new Center Township Constable.
Allen replaces former Constable Denise Paul Hatch, who had to step down after pleading guilty to felony official misconduct charges later this year.
Allen faced five other challengers, including former City-County Councilman William “Duke” Oliver.
Allen and Oliver tied in the first round of voting, but Allen won in the second round 21-17.
In his introductory speech to the delegates, Allen said he wanted to restore trust in the office and keeping out of the news for negative things.
Allen, by law, had to resign his seat on the IPS School Board.
