Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons Jessica Stern will travel to Cape Town, South Africa, from November 8-15.
On November 8, Special Envoy Stern will chair the Global Equality Fund partners meeting. This international coalition of like-minded governments, businesses, and foundations supports programs that provide emergency assistance to human rights defenders and grassroots LGBTQI+ organizations to generate positive change.
From November 9-11, Special Envoy Stern will participate in the Global LGBTI Funding Summit, hosted by Global Philanthropy Project. While at the Summit, Special Envoy Stern will meet with over 200 global funders committed to LGBTQI+ equality and inclusive development.
From November 11-15, Special Envoy Stern will participate in the biannual International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association World Conference. This worldwide federation includes more than 1,900 organizations representing more than 160 countries and territories. Over 1,000 human rights defenders from around the world will gather to share strategies for responding to and overcoming threats to rights of LGBTQI+ persons in all regions, and to build a shared agenda to advance respect for the human rights of all persons.
