UCSD’s Geisel Library has reopened after an unidentified person fell to their death late Wednesday morning.
The Triton campus newspaper reported that the as-yet unidentified person — who is not believed to be a UC San Diego student — fell to their death from the eighth-floor stairwell at around 11:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Campus police and library workers closed the library and evacuated patrons outside.
Due to an incident this morning, effective immediately, Geisel Library will be closed for the rest of the day. WongAvery Library will remain open until 8 p.m.

The university said the death posed no threat to the campus community, according to the Guardian campus newspaper.
UCSD’s Counseling and Psychological Services office said it was accepting walk-in appointments in light of the death.
