FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Fort Wayne Fire Department fought a structural fire in an empty home Saturday afternoon on Fort Wayne’s southeast side.
Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to 3421 Alexander Street after receiving calls of a structure fire around 12:15 p.m. Saturday. According to a press release issued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department, when firefighters arrived they found “light smoke conditions” outside the home and when entering found a fire in the first-floor living room area.
It took the fire department 15 minutes to get the fire under control.
The home was “vacant and uninhabited” at the time of the fire so no one was injured according to the release.
It was determined by investigators that the cause of the fire was electrical. No further information was given.
