Take part in shaping history on this historic election day by recording an audio message in Abigail DeVille’s “Lunar Capsule,” an interactive artwork that encourages visitors to share their stories, from 12-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. This event is presented in conjunction with the exhibit “Abigail DeVille: In the Fullness of Time,” on view through Nov. 10.
You might speak about what this election means to you or relate what your voting experience was like. DeVille will archive these recordings and use them in a future artwork. Sensitive to the mechanisms through which personal narratives become part of recorded history — or fail to — DeVille encourages her viewers to become active participants in sharing their own stories.
Also to mark this occasion, we will be opening — for one afternoon only — the original front entrance of the Museum of Art, which has been closed since 2005. This event will be held weather-permitting. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
Bowdoin College Museum of Art is located at 9400 College Station, Brunswick. For more information, visit bowdoin.edu/art-museum.
