LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A local jewelry store owner is asking for help after his store was burglarized. The owner said the crime took place in August.
Owner Rafi Topalian said two suspects stole his life savings and treasured family heirlooms from his Top Custom Jewelers store in Hilltop Plaza. However, he said he plans to remain resilient by remaining open throughout the holidays with plans to stay in business for another 25 years.
He said he has been moved by support from the community. Two fundraisers are aimed at helping Rafi and his family regain their footing.
The first will be a benefit breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on November 10 at Watervliet Elks. The second will begin at noon on November 24 at St. Peter Armenian Church.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact Colonie police at (518) 708-3579.
