FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Fort Smith man recently pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex crimes involving a California teenager, according to court documents.
Sean Schiemann, 49, was set to begin his trial on November 12 but pleaded guilty to sexual assault, internet stalking of a child and two counts of possession of child sexual abuse material during a hearing on October 23.

Schiemann was sentenced to 20 years in prison with a 20-year suspended sentence, according to court records.
Fort Smith police said in a news release on June 1 that it was contacted by law enforcement officials from California about a 15-year-old girl who reportedly had been in an online relationship with Schiemann.
Schiemann bought a plane ticket for a teenager from California to Arkansas, where he then picked her up at the Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), the release said.
An investigation by FSPD and the U.S. Marshals to locate the two followed. Both were later found at Schiemann’s residence in Fort Smith. He was arrested on May 31, according to his booking.
In addition to his sentence, Schiemann has to register as a sex offender and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family.
