An investigation is underway Tuesday into a fatal collision that left lanes closed on the northbound 101 Freeway through the East Hollywood area.
The crash was reported on the freeway near Vermont Avenue around 6 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed they were investigating a fatality involving a pedestrian on the freeway and that all northbound lanes were initially closed due to the crash.
There was no immediate word on whether the pedestrian was a motorist who exited a vehicle or if the person was walking on the freeway for other reasons.
A SigAlert was issued at 6:38 a.m. for the ongoing closures of the number one and two lanes, according to the CHP.
The closure was expected to remain in place until about 8 a.m.
