KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Wyandotte County commissioners Monday night gave their recommendation on brining a popular travel center to Kansas City, Kansas.
The discussion of bringing a Buc-ee’s to KCK continued during a city planning commission meeting.
Commissioners gave their recommendations to approve the applications so that Buc-ee’s can find a new home in KCK.
The location being looked at is not far from The Legends Outlets and Kansas Speedway at 601 Village West Parkway. It will be 70,000 square feet with 120 gas pumps, a whole convenience store on 25.80 acres.
There were three applications for this travel center that went before the planning commission Monday. One for rezoning the land, a second for the plot to be used as a commercial lot and a third application amending the master plan to change it from an entertainment district to a commercial district.
All three were approved 9-0 with no one opposed.
Buc-ee’s is known for its clean bathrooms, food, all those fuel pumps and its iconic mascot.
What comes next? Two of those applications will still have to go in front of the full Unified Government council. That’s going to take place Wednesday, Oct. 30.
In the meantime, the closest Buc-ee’s to the Kansas City metro right now is Springfield, Missouri.
