Bath police issued, then later lifted, a shelter-in-place order for part of the city Sunday morning while officers responded to what authorities described as a “situation.”
In a Facebook post just after 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Bath police announced the shelter-in-place order due to an “ongoing situation” on Crawford Drive.
Police said in a subsequent post around 9 a.m. that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted and that there is “no current danger to the public.”
A Facebook post from the Sagadahoc County Emergency Management Agency said that “the incident has been resolved but is still being investigated.”
Oak Grove Avenue and Crawford Drive were “blocked off” while police investigate, and detours are set up, police said.
Both police and the Emergency Management Agency noted that the investigation is ongoing and residents may see an increased police presence.
An earlier version of the Emergency Management Agency post announcing the order said it applied to Bath residents north of North Street. Residents were asked to remove keys from vehicles, lock all doors, stay inside and alert police of suspicious activity.
