NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Tropical Storm Milton has developed in the southern Gulf of Mexico, bringing higher winds and the potential for minor coastal flooding to parts of southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast this weekend.
Winds have picked up due to a developing storm system, and minor flooding is expected, particularly during high tide along the coast.
Most areas, however, will see limited rainfall, with only a few scattered showers possible along the immediate coastline. The central and northern Gulf will experience the bulk of the rainfall from the storm, while the rest of the region is likely to remain dry.
Temperatures will rise in areas farther away from the coast, where there will be fewer clouds, with cooler conditions expected along the immediate coastline due to thicker cloud cover.
By Monday or Tuesday, a cold front is expected to push through, bringing drier air and lower humidity to the region. Temperatures will become more comfortable, with highs near or just below normal for October in the mid 80s and overnight lows dropping into the 50s north and 60s south.
