LEWISBURG, Ky. – Two parents are facing charges related to a child abuse case in Logan County.
According to a uniform citation, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded for a welfare check on Monday in Lewisburg.
Deputies say they were told a small child was living at a residence in poor condition.
Upon arrival, deputies say they learned the residence had no food or running water.
The father, identified as Matthew Thomas, stated they had already eaten the food they had, deputies say. The citation states the floor was covered in garbage, and unsanitary conditions were noted throughout the home.
This included the child’s room, according to authorities, which was covered in trash, including used diapers. Deputies say there was no mattress for the child to sleep on.
The mother was identified as Angelica Duran.
Duran and Thomas have been living at the residence for two months, according to deputies. Both have been arrested and are charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and abused or neglected child.
