The Match, schedule
The Northern Irish golfer, Rory McIlroy, confirmed the news while showing great enthusiasm for becoming the number 1 ranked partner for this event. “I am delighted to join Scottie in what promises to be an exciting duel against Bryson and Brooks in Las Vegas this December.
This is not just a test between some of the great golf champions, it is an event designed to connect with fans. We are all here to put on a great show and contribute to a goodwill event that brings the best together again”.
In this edition, players will not compete for prize money, although they will receive a bonus for participating. Scheffler and Koepka’s agent, Blake Smith, followed McIlroy’s lead by ensuring Brooks and Scottie’s excitement before taking part in a unique event.
This event will be a new edition of The Match in which the figures of the two most important circuits in the world will face each other. Up to nine editions of “The Match” have been held, the first was in 2018 with the duel between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
Six years ago we saw a parade of great stars such as Tom Brady, Lexi Thompson or Aaron Rodgers, in what some experts describe as a rapprochement between the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (creator of LIV Golf) and the PGA Tour.
The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are played outdoors, close to nature and animals. Respecting the rules is a basic element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on self-control and the free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, sometimes consciously, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to the failure of many players to comply with the rules of the game.
In addition to the rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the game with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.
