HONOLULU – University of Hawai’i quarterback Brayden Schager, linebacker Jamih Otis, and return specialist Tylan Hines received Mountain West Player of the Week honors following the Rainbow Warriors’ 35-14 season-opening victory over Delaware State.
All three were instrumental in helping Hawai’i win its first season-opener since 2020 and the first home-opener under in the Timmy Chang era. The Rainbow Warriors scored the final 21 points in the game to extend their win streak over an FCS opponent to 21 straight.
In the victory, Schager passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more, which was just the seventh time a UH quarterback accomplished the feat since 2000. Hines’ 44-yard punt for touchdown was Hawai’i’s first in 12 years while Otis led the team with a career-high 11 tackles in his first career start at middle linebacker.
