The Sunrise Wind Supplier Forum is slated for Wednesday at the Long Island Marriot in Uniondale from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Sunrise Wind joint development partners Ørsted and Eversource are hosting the event. It will feature “tier 1” suppliers that will provide details on opportunities for supporting vendors and subcontractors to work on the Sunrise Wind project.
Also speaking at the event will be NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen Harris and Sunrise Wind senior leadership.
Already, more than 200 attendees have registered for the event.
The approximately 924-megawatt Sunrise Wind project will be located more than 30 miles east of Montauk Point and will be designed to generate enough clean energy to power nearly 600,000 New York homes. It is expected to be operational in 2025.
Ørsted and Eversource plan a direct investment of more than $400 million in New York State to build Sunrise Wind. Sunrise Wind is expected to create as many as 800 direct jobs during construction and thousands more indirect and induced jobs to support project work.
Onshore construction is already underway on the joint developers’ South Fork Wind, which the joint developers say is New York’s first offshore wind farm, serving Long Island.
A third supply chain forum will be held in Suffolk County in spring 2023.
