NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department was on the scene of a 3-alarm fire in the French Quarter Tuesday morning, Nov. 19.
Around 2:44 a.m., firefighters were alerted of a fire at the corner of Bourbon and Orleans streets.
Arriving at 2:49 a.m., firefighters witnessed smoke coming through the roof of a three-story wooden framed building. A second alarm was called at 3:02 a.m. after flames were spotted between the second and third floors and throughout the attic.
NOFD officials said due to the fire being difficult to access, a third alarm was called for extra manpower to extinguish the flames.
NOFD officials said the fire reportedly started in a crawl space on the second floor of a business which was closed at the time.

In total, 20 NOFD units carrying 52 fire personnel were able to get the flame under control by 4:04 a.m. but firefighters continued to search for hotspots. Entergy officials were also on the scene and were able to cut power to the building.
An NOFD firefighter reportedly sustained a minor injury to his hand but was treated by EMS and is expected to recover.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
