(KRON) — The Berkeley Police Department arrested 24 people while conducting a retail theft operation at locations across the city. Police recovered large stashes of stolen shampoo and condoms.
The operations focused on stores that are frequent targets of retail theft — Target and Walgreens.
An operation at Target on Nov. 8 yielded seven arrests, seven more people were arrested at Walgreens the next day, and on Nov. 12, 10 people were arrested again at Target.
The arrests were for theft, burglary, drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and more.
Police recovered Head & Shoulders shampoo, soft drinks, condoms, socks and air freshener. In total, more than $4,000 of stolen property was recovered, police said.
“These operations are a testament to the hard work and collaboration of our officers, local businesses, and other local partners. Thank you to everyone involved in keeping our community safe and reducing retail theft,” BPD said.
