Two motorists died early Saturday when the driver lost control on a transition ramp to Interstate 15, sending the car crashing to the lanes below.
The driver had attempted to take the eastbound state Route 94 connector to northbound I-15 just before 12:30 a.m., according to OnScene.TV. But the car left the over-crossing and hit a large freeway sign before landing on the westbound side of SR-94.
The crash caused the vehicle’s roof to cave in; both the male and female occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities declared a SigAlert until 3:50 a.m. on westbound SR-94, closing lanes extending to Interstate 805. The California Highway Patrol and San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to the scene.
