HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Sunday marked the 10th annual Microwave Dave Day in the City of Huntsville.
Held in honor of Huntsville music icon, Dave Gallaher, the day featured 50 musicians from the area across three stages playing music. The event was free but donations were accepted, benefitting music education across North Alabama.
Gallaher has lived in Huntsville since the 1980s and says that helping advance music in the area has been very rewarding.
“I don’t think that I can possibly describe to people how fortunate I feel at the acceptance I’ve had in this town, I’m not from here. I got here in the 80s, I’ve been here since the 80s but I’ve been accepted like I was a local from way back,” said Gallaher. “The fact that we’ve been able to do something positive for the children, the schools and for the teachers. Also, help promote music as an endeavor for people who might be interested in it, that’s just been really rewarding to me.”
