(KRON) — An eye-catching reward of $100,000 is being offered for information that helps identify and catch a gunman who opened fire on a police officer at the Hillsborough police station.
On Wednesday, the Hillsborough Police Department announced that it is offering the reward and the gunman remains at large. HPD is “urgently seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending a suspect who shot at one of our officers in a brazen attack last month,” the police department wrote.
The shooting happened on Feb. 22 at 3:49 p.m. at 1600 Floribunda Avenue. Police Captain Meme Colla told KRON4 that the shooting was “unsettling, that someone would attack us in our home.”
The ambushed officer was injured and returned fire. Police said it’s unknown if the gunman was wounded before he ran off. The incident at the police station only lasted a few seconds. Despite a massive manhunt that night, he evaded law enforcement authorities.
Police Chief Nelson Corteway said, “We urge anyone with information — no matter how small it may seem — to come forward and assist us.”

The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s, weighs about 160 pounds, and is between 5’7″ and 5’10” tall.
Police said the injured officer is expected to recover.
