🗣️ Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump labeled his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, a “fascist” and promised the “largest deportation in history” of illegal immigrants during a rally Monday night at Georgia Tech.

📬 If you’re voting by absentee ballot, the U.S. Postal Service says mail-in ballots should be sent today to ensure delivery by Election Day. Drop box locations are also available, but consult your county’s elections website.
🔥 Ballot boxes in Oregon and Washington were set on fire on Monday. It’s unclear if the incidents were related.

1. 2024 Michelin Guide: Which restaurants earned stars and Bib Gourmands
⭐ The 2024 Michelin Guide to Atlanta is now official. Of the 57 restaurants recognized in this year’s guide, nine were awarded one star, up from five last year.

Restaurants like Whoopsie’s and Superica were named new Bib Gourmands, for “offering incredibly delectable food coupled with affordable pricing.” Nolan Wynn of Banshee was recognized as the Atlanta Young Chef Award Winner.
📍 Michelin also expanded the guide in 2024 to feature Metro Atlanta restaurants outside the perimeter, including Table & Main in Roswell and Masterpiece in Duluth.
🛞 This year marks the city’s second dining guide from the French tire company, which awards coveted stars, Bib Gourmands, and other distinctions to restaurants in cities worldwide. The inaugural 2023 guide to Atlanta centered its selections on restaurants inside the perimeter.

🎶 Works of passion, mystery, and wonder fill Symphony Hall this month! Nov. 7, 9 & 10, Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann welcomes a marvelous lineup of soloists to join the Atlanta Symphony Chorus as they present a night of Mozart masterpieces — his mysterious, otherworldly Mass in C Minor and delightfully tuneful Symphony No. 40.
📅 Nov. 14 & 16, Stutzmann conducts Bruckner’s Romantic Fourth Symphony — a piece that conjures the mystic wonders of a forest primeval and explodes in a blaze of sunshine. Also, Principal Flutist Christina Smith performs C.P.E. Bach’s spirited Flute Concerto in D Minor.
📅 Nov. 21 & 23, ASO performs Haydn’s “Miracle” Symphony with surprising and catchy tunes. Mozart’s brilliant and joyous Violin Concerto No. 3 is performed by rising star violinist Geneva Lewis, followed by Walton’s First Symphony.

2. Marie Cisco talks new role at Alliance Theatre
🎭 Marie Cisco is ready to discover what Atlanta artists are hungry for.
As the new BOLD Associate Artistic Director for the Alliance Theatre, the film and theater producer will work alongside the theater’s artistic directors and manage Alliance programs such as the Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab. She will also help oversee the development of local talent through the Alliance’s Spelman Leadership Fellowship and the Kenny Leon Associate Director programs.
Cisco is an Atlanta native and has worked in numerous spaces in both film, television, and theater. Her past experience includes The National Black Theatre, The Public Theater, Lee Daniels Entertainment, and Stardust Films by Common.

3. At 64, she was too young for a pneumonia vaccination. The CDC has changed that.
💉 When Karyne Jones was diagnosed with pneumonia, she was 64 – ineligible for a pneumococcal vaccination because she was too young.
Jones knows how important vaccinations are to public health, especially in communities of color and among people without health insurance or access to providers, because she serves as executive director of the National Caucus and Center on Black Aging.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now recommending people over 50 receive a vaccine against pneumonia.

4. Volunteer Opportunities
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HANDS ON ATLANTA
🍞 Higher Calling Foundation, Inc. is seeking volunteers to help with distribution at its food bank in Decatur on Wednesday afternoon.
🗑️ The City of Atlanta needs volunteers for Operation Clean Sweep on Central Avenue – from Decatur to Dodd – on Friday morning. Expect to help with collecting litter and debris.
🧒 Kate’s Club (pictured) is looking for volunteers on Sunday morning. You will be paired up with a Buddy Volunteer to help support children and young adults after the death of a loved one. A background check is required.
