Noooo! Tsunami! Buddhism!
March 12 — Indie screen queen Parker Posey is having a big renaissance right now thanks to her lorazepam-addled character Victoria Ratliff on the new season of ‘The White Lotus,’ not to mention showing off some dance skills in a ’90s throwback GAP campaign.
While season two’s Jennifer ‘These gays are trying to kill me’ Coolidge is much missed, Posey is giving us memeable content – not to mention THAT Southern accent – to last for years to come. Her breezy interviews – especially the Today show appearance where she shouts some of Victoria’s more twangy pronunciations (Noooo! Tsunami! Buddhism!) – have gone viral.
Posey has been a gay icon since “Party Girl,” so it’s nice to see her having another big moment and finding a whole new audience.
👓 Speaking of films, we’ve got a preview of Out On Film’s Spring Mini-Fest in today’s newsletter, along with a look at a vital HIV support group for women, and the return of Maria Helena Dolan’s Reeling in the Years column.
🎗️ We’re also sending our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Dennis Retzleff, the mind behind Dennis Dean Catering, who lost his battle with cancer at age 63.
Cheers!

🗣️ Nearly a quarter of people living with HIV in the U.S. are women, and the number is only growing.
The highest number of new diagnoses from 2018 to 2022, according to CDC data, was among women ages 25 to 44, and young Black women, in particular, are among the fastest-growing demographics for new HIV diagnoses. LGBTQ+ identified women are at an elevated risk.
AID Atlanta’s Sisters with a Voice program offers support to HIV-positive women via groups, seminars, workshops, and community events.
