Have You Heard?
🍜 Guess what, Dunwoody? Tang’s Oriental Asian Pub opened at Politan Row at Ashford Lane last night. The full-service restaurant, backed by Chef Stanley Wong and Clayton Parker, serves a variety of Asian and South Asian dishes, including pork dumplings, yakitori, Thai lemongrass wings, a kimchi burger, Korean fried cauliflower, and samosas. Look for cocktails, Japanese beers on draft, and sake from the bar.
🇯🇵 In more restaurant renovation news, the owners of Nakato announced they will temporarily close the half-century-old Japanese restaurant in June to give it a much-needed makeover. When it reopens, expect new hibachi and lounge areas and a covered overhang above the entrance to the restaurant. Nakato should reopen by the end of September but will continue to accept to-go, delivery, and catering orders throughout the summer.
🌭 Love Waffle House, The Varsity, and barbecue from Owens & Hull? The critically acclaimed Mableton barbecue joint overlooking the Chattahoochee River will celebrate all things Atlanta with two food specials in March and April. From March 20-23, order smoked sausage from Owens & Hull stuffed with American cheese and Waffle House smothered hash browns. From March 27-30 and April 3-6, order chili cheese smoked sausage made with cheddar cheese, minced onions, and The Varsity’s chili.
🤔 Six years after the initial 2019 announcement, conspiracy theory-themed Redacted Basement Drink Parlor will FINALLY open in Summerhill, according to this Instagram post, which doesn’t indicate a specific date or even a broad date range for the opening. The post just reads, “Coming Very Soon!” Another conspiracy theory? Or just on brand?
🙌 We now know the name of the executive chef who will lead the kitchen at restaurant and market Communidad Taqueria, owned by Poco Loco Chef Nick Melvin. Say hello to Chef Chavez Hernandez, formerly the executive chef at Parish before it closed in 2021.
🇹🇭 Thai pop-up Tipsy Thaiger is getting closer to becoming a restaurant in Roswell. The next pop-up takes place on March 16, from 12-6 p.m., at Pontoon Brewing on Dunwoody Place in Sandy Springs. The restaurant should open by the end of spring, taking over the old Public House space just off Roswell’s historic town square. Look for street food-style dishes inspired by family recipes served at lunch and dinner, along with cocktails, beer, and wine.
🎉 The Cook’s Warehouse celebrates 30 years in business at Ansley Mall with a party tomorrow from 6-9 p.m. Expect food, demonstrations, and select items on sale.
🚫 The franchised Nashville location of Mexican-Southern restaurant Taqueria del Sol will close on March 30 after 12 years on Charlotte Avenue in Tennessee’s capital city, according to a post on Instagram.
